Richard Miyata is great if you want to hear him discussing his nasty personal life with the hygienists. Yeah he’s great for having full conversations about fishing and kayaking while he’s jamming sharp instruments into your mouth over and over because he can’t stop talking about his personal life long enough to perform the services in a courteous and professional manner.

From the moment I walked in, the office felt soothing-not like a typical clinical setting, but more like a place designed to put patients at ease. Dr. Miyata doesn't push unnecessary treatments, which I've unfortunately experienced elsewhere. Instead the focus is on my actual health and comfort. Things are explained clearly, and I always feel like I am in capable, caring hands. The staff is also excellent -they're patient and kind even when I am anxious, and Kay at the front desk has been wonderful, getting me in quickly when something urgent came up. I would recommend Zen dentistry to anyone looking for dental care that is both professional and genuinely supportive..

The service here is thorough and honest, which can be tough to find with dentists. The staff takes into account financial constraints (scheduling services to accommodate insurance rollover, etc) & doesn't pressure you. Good place. I've moved now but I'll be commuting in to cap hill to keep going here.
