I had such a great experience at this dental office. I was nervous to come to a new dentist because in the past I've had dentists who lacked empathy, took shortcuts, or didn't take the time to explain anything. I'm so glad I got to work with Dr. Taudel. She's excellent at what she does -- super thorough and detail oriented. And in addition, she had great bedside manner, checked in to make sure I wasn't in pain, etc. My procedure required multiple visits and I felt great about returning to see her and the team. All of the dental hygienists were great and the front desk staff were also very friendly. Super grateful for this experience!!

I had the worst experience of any dentist place i have gone to. I went in for a simple annual clean. The dentist and the hygienist recommended a $7,000 plan. And they would not do a general cleaning because they wanted to sell me a ton of other services. Finally after insisting the hygienist spent all of 15 min out of an hr long appointment actually doing what I came in for.

I can't express how grateful I am that I went to Tend Upper West Side. I have had terrible experiences at dentists' offices in the past, so I was very anxious leading up to this appointment. Dr. Park and Channel were absolutely wonderful. They made me feel so comfortable, and reassured me that everything was going to go well - which it did! I didn't feel any pain at all. Dr. Park and Channel worked together flawlessly: fast, thorough, and efficient. They understood how nervous I was, and really took the time to address that. During my filling, Channel grabbed my hand for support, which meant so much to me. Dr. Park checked in frequently, making sure I was comfortable. When it was over, I shed tears of relief. The whole experience was so amazing, I cannot recommend Tend enough. I had a follow up appointment with the dental hygienist, Khadija, who was amazing as well. While I was with Khadija, Dr. Park and Channel stopped in to say hello which made the experience so personable. From the moment I walked into Tend to the moment I walked out, my feelings about the dentist flipped. I went from dread to feeling comfortable, and that's all thanks to the staff at Tend Upper West Side. This includes the front office staff as well, who are always so warm and welcoming. I highly recommend this Tend location!

Extremely slow to actually start treating you, expect to sit around for atleast half an hour once you’ve been brought in the back. And they’re extremely pushy about expensive, not medically necessary treatments. The only reason they’re even getting one star is because I have no choice.. but the front desk staff aren’t helpful or very friendly, the hygienist I had this time was AWFUL, and overall they seem to only like you if you have a lot of money to spend. This visit I had my own spit smeared all over my face, was absolutely covered in water, the room I was in ran out of water and I was made to wait for a long time with a mouth full of the gritty polish stuff while she tried to refill it unsuccessfully, and she even started working on me while I was sitting upright!! Will never be back - don’t waste your money or time here

I initially came in for a smile make over consult. The 1st red flag was when I was told I’d need something called a wax up and it was done before anyone shared the amount I’d be charged 😳 I later came back and had the most painful root canal done so much so I had two scheduled but did one and cancelled the 2nd. The tooth looks great but my mouth was sore and cut up for weeks after. I was also advised to schedule a deep cleaning and I left a deposit for that but when I canceled the 2nd root canal no one ever reached out for the deep cleaning. I called scheduled that and came in. The hygienist did a lovely job on my deep cleaning so the stars are for her but again at the end of my visit upon check out surprise more charges. So what I’m noticing is it seems every appointment incurs a charge (although I have insurance). 🤷🏽‍♀️ The times I’ve been the charges weren’t shared till after I was done with the appointments. It would be helpful to know beforehand

The atmosphere here is very relaxing. The headphones they provide you with to listen to a show is calming and really makes the process go smoothly. I can appreciate the staffs welcoming attitude as well as how quick and efficient the dentists and hygienists are. Dr. Park is incredibly nice, thorough, and always leaves room for questions to be asked! Would absolutely recommend Tend to anyone who gets anxious at the dentist office!

Think Twice Before Going to a Venture Capital-Backed Dental Practice Like Tend My husband warned me not to go to a place like Tend — backed by venture capital, all gloss and no substance. He was right. I have a wonderful old-school dentist whom I trust completely, but getting an appointment months in advance is the norm, and with a packed schedule and a long summer away from NYC looming, I couldn't make it work. Tend's promise of Saturday appointments, easy app-based booking, and modern spaces seemed like a reasonable solution in a pinch. It was not. From the moment I walked in, it was clear the goal was to extract as much money from me as possible — and I mean that literally and figuratively. The first of three people who greeted me said, "If the dentist says you can get a cleaning today, you will." I was taken aback. I came for one thing: a cleaning. She then added, almost as an afterthought, that "most people get cleanings." I explained my situation clearly. After 20 minutes of X-rays, the dentist came in and claimed she spotted two cavities — cavities my trusted dentist has never once seen, despite the fact that I rarely eat sugar and have zero pain. Then the hygienist spent another 20 minutes poking around before announcing I needed a deep gum scaling. Fine — I told her I'd schedule that in the fall once I confirmed insurance coverage. But what about my cleaning? "I won't clean your teeth," she said. "You need the deep scaling first." I asked why I couldn't get a regular cleaning now and return in the fall for the scaling. Her response? She didn't have time for a cleaning. When I suggested she do what she could in half an hour, she told me that wouldn't meet "her standards" — and that she had another patient waiting. The hygienist's name was Kathy, and her bedside manner matched her flexibility: none. I asked to speak with a manager. I explained that I was being refused service, and that if I didn't receive a cleaning that day, I would never return. The result? They made me sign a form stating I was "refusing" the deep scaling — as if I were the unreasonable one — and then Kathy cleaned my teeth in under 30 minutes. So apparently she did have the time. At checkout, not another word was mentioned about the gum cleaning. And the supposed two cavities? Crickets. Oh, and one more thing: Tend prominently advertises on their app that you can watch TV and choose your own show during your visit. I was never offered this — not once, for any part of my time there. To top it all off, they charged me $29 for X-rays. In all my years of going to the dentist, I have never once been charged separately for X-rays as part of a routine visit. These people are not a dental practice — they're a revenue-extraction machine dressed up in a sleek app and a pretty waiting room. Do not waste your time or your money. Go find yourself a good old-school dentist and wait the extra few months. It is absolutely worth it.
