I had an absolutely incredible experience at this clinic. I needed an emergency dental appointment, and even though I wasn’t scheduled, they got me in within 10 minutes! Dr. Todd was so kind and efficient—my missing tooth was taken care of with a custom retainer using Invisalign, all in less than an hour. Jennifer at the front desk was amazing as well—she helped me so much with the coordination. Thanks to them, I was able to walk into my interview with a perfect smile. I can’t recommend them enough!

I've been coming to Portland Modern Dentistry for years, and have had no complaints. I came in for a follow-up teeth cleaning and Cor a provided exceptional service. She was personable and considerate, but also through and efficient. She provided me with a great understanding of what options were available to me. The receptionist was also great, though I unfortunately forgot her name once I stepped outside (she was blonde with glasses). In any case, this is a great office filled with compassionate professionals and quality service at reasonable prices. I highly recommend.

I've been going here for my dental work for close to 2 years now. Everyone is always very kind and welcoming. They are up front about the costs of procedures and what insurance will cover. I was even able to get on a payment plan when I ended up needing some fillings and a deep clean at my initial appointment which was a life saver as I couldn't cover it out of pocket up front. They are great at squeezing you in for last minute appointments if you have an emergency and overall have very flexible scheduling. All my work here has been pain free and I can't imagine going elsewhere! Great staff from the front desk to the dental assistants, hygienists and dentists.

I am very pleased with this dental practice. The staff is extremely cordial and caring. They go out of their way to ensure the comfort of the patient. On my recent visit, I was very impressed with the team of Dr. Caldwell and her assistant, Cynthia and aide, Jaiden. They all were very concerned with my comfort, and need-to-know what they were doing. I highly recommend Portland Modern Dentistry.

I had a concerning experience during my first visit where I was told I had gum disease and needed a deep cleaning, that included being numbed, at a cost of $745. I was told they could not provide a standard cleaning. Wanting clarity, I went to Glisan Dental for a second opinion. At Glisan Dental, I received a standard cleaning, exam, and X-rays for $150 and was told I did not have gum disease. The difference in diagnosis, treatment approach, and cost was significant, and I’m very grateful I sought a second opinion before proceeding. I would encourage others to do the same when facing costly dental recommendations from this dentist.

First filling went off with no problems. The second one, the dentist and assistant were actively bickering with each other while they were getting ready to do the filling. I knew I should have gotten up and left, but I figured they were professionals and could work through it. The second the numbing injection wore off, I was in such severe pain I couldn’t sleep and couldn’t stop crying. Pain meds barely helped. Because the first one went so well, I knew this wasn’t normal. This went on for about a week or more with more checkups until they finally redid the filling for me. This has not resolved the issue. I still have pain when flossing and random throbbing pain and heat in my second filling. Trying to get it fixed through OHP now. I would have returned again to let them try and resolve the issue, but I got the sense that the dentist was irritated I kept coming back. She filed one of my teeth so roughly in an attempt to fix the flossing issue that she cut my lip. That on top of what felt like gaslighting about my pain levels made me decide I was never going back, and now I’ve been in pain for almost a full year. Just don’t go. There’s some type of tension between the people working there that clearly affects their ability to do procedures without hurting people. Please save yourself the pain and stress.

Dr. Newton did my first ever crown, and wow. I don’t know what I expected, but it wasn’t that. The actual process of filing down the tooth wasn’t nearly as bad as I was prepared for, and didn’t take very long - maybe 45 minutes. The crown I opted for was the same day crown and I’m so glad I did, even though it was more expensive. Dr. Newton designed and created it while I waited (it took 30 minutes, maybe less) and then, when all was said and done, the crown was indistinguishable from the tooth it replaced. In fact, when I ran my tongue over it, my brain told me that the crown was my actual tooth. If I didn’t sit through it and see the tooth when it was filed down, I think a small part of me would doubt it happened! 😂 Dr. Newton mentioned she was a perfectionist and I have to agree. It looks perfect, feels great, and aside from a mild amount of soreness the next couple of days, I could totally forget this is a crown!
