Advanced Dentistry of New York: Frantz Backer, DDS

My introduction to Dr. Backer was facilitated by a simple google search. His experience, credentials and reputation were accompanied by some very positive reviews. I live in the area and after my last dentist left a bitter taste in my mouth, pun intended, I decided to schedule an appointment. The staff was welcoming, accommodating and professional. Dr Backer himself was very thorough in his exam, knowledgable and walked me through his concerns in regards to the current state of my teeth. Although some work is necessary, I absolutely feel that I'm in great hands and relieved to have found a doctor that's as experienced and trustworthy as Dr. Backer.

My second cleaning with Joseph, the hygienist. He is absolutely the best. I have very sensitive teeth and would agonize over having my teeth cleaned. He is extremely gentle and thorough! I have my teeth cleaned every three months so I’ve been searching for someone who could put me at ease and make the experience tolerable. I highly recommend him if you’re looking for exceptional service. The office is impeccable and the entire staff including Dr. Backer are pleasant and professional.

Upon arrival, I'm not going to lie,my 1st impression was "I'm not going to like this place" only due to exterior of establishments. Once I entered I made the clerk aware of my appointment, and I was asked to fill out necessary forms being it was my 1st visit. I informed that I had already filled out necessary paperwork online, shortly after I was asked to the back for x-rays. The nurse was very nice and informative on how long she would be taken with photos and let me know we could stop at anytime if I needed a break. Once x-rays were done I met Doctor and he was very welcoming and made me feel comfortable. He offered suggestions and made me aware of everything that needed to be done. I was told he could get right to work even before he was sure if my insurance covered everything that was needed. It was great experience. My only complaint is I needed a procedure done of a simple extraction and i was informed that a certain tool that was needed and such tool was left in bklyn office. He simply rescheduled me for next day, at my convenience of course. Great place and it felt right.

I was very pleased with my dental appointment with Dr. Backer. He is a kind and compassionate person and made me feel at ease. I had two cavities filled and felt no pain. I did well on the Novocain, which was a relief, because I've had issues in the past with being affected negatively by the drug. The office is efficient and the staff is very nice and friendly. All in all, I am very pleased with my experience at Advanced Dentistry!

Great place to get your teeth fixed and cared for. The staff are so comforting and welcoming. They give it to straight and tell you how to maintain your oral health once you are home. The receptionist Joel is the very best receptionist I have met in a long, long time! We all know how uncomfortable it can be to go to the dentist, well Joelle takes away all the fear and uncomfortablity as soon as you walk through the door. I recommend you choose Dr. Backer for your dentist. He makes any procedure as painless as possible. (You just have to get passed his bluntness)😉!

I arrived on time for my 2pm scheduled cleaning. I filled out standard paperwork and was escorted to the dentist chair. All of the staff that assisted with my visot wore the same pair of gloves and did not change them. They touched doorknobs, screens and cabinets before proceeding to touch my mouth with the same pair. The woman taking photos of my teeth felt inexperienced as she kept jamming the camera all over my mouth. The small talk between the staff and myself were uncomfortable discussing personal matters. I was sitting in the chair until 3:30pm until they began the cleaning. Their scrubs were covered in various stains. The place overall was 8 out of 10 clean but their habits and the way they held themselves were dirty which was surprising being in a popular area that is downtown brooklyn. I told the dentist I experienced pain in my molar and shortly after began picking at that area which caused me to immediately wince in pain. Overall experience- nice people and reasonably clean but unprofessional and inexperienced.

Dr. Backer is truly an excellent dentist. My wife, my son and I have been patients of his for several years now and have consistently received superb services, visit after visit. He habitually walks you through his process and explains and/or answers any questions you may have. I have always had a really low tolerance for pain relative to dental procedures, yet he has a way of keeping me very calm, no matter how complex the procedure. Typically, I am totally unaware that he has rectified a particular matter because I wait for pain that never occurs. Over the years, I have grown to learn not to expect pain during his procedures. He is quite awesome and always pleasant. He is a six star dentist!
