Dr. Colleen Loftus DMD

2.2

Dr. Colleen Loftus DMD, based in the Bronx, is a highly regarded dentist known for her meticulous approach to dental care. Patients consistently highlight her attentive and thorough consultations, ensuring treatments are both precise and personalized. With a focus on patient education and comfort, she fosters a trusting environment, particularly excelling in restorative procedures like porcelain crowns.

While her expertise in general dentistry is widely praised, some cases involving specialized referrals—such as orthodontic clearance—have raised concerns about communication and follow-up. Prospective patients seeking routine care, cleanings, or cosmetic dentistry may find her practice particularly reliable, though caution is advised for complex or multi-specialty treatments.

I went to Dr. Colleen last year in 2024 at the Grand concourse location, for a cleaning. Dr Colleen is amazing! She is thorough, informative & kind. I wish she did invisalign, I would 100% go to her.

The best dentist I’ve ever seen . Not only did she replace all my crowns to porcelain , she made my teeth look perfect again . Colleen is very sweet and hard working and cares about the patients teeth. 10/10 experience for me , only going to see her for now on

I had a terrible experience with dentist Dr.Colleen Loftus DMD .On 04/16/2024 I went to the dentist because my general dentist needed to fill out a clearance form that I needed to take to the Orthodontics in order for me to be able to get braces. She was nice and professional during the visit. I gave her the form and she filled it out. She mark off the part on the form requirements that's states that I am clear of untreated oral disease that may make orthodontic treatment unsuccessful. I went to the orthodontist afterwards and I gave the orthodontist the form that Dr.Colleen sign and stated that I don't have gum disease and that I am clear for braces. I got my braces on that day. After 9 months of me having braces the orthodontist gives me a referral to see a gum specialist. The second week of January I go to the gum specialist and the gum specialist tells me that I have gum disease , and that I shouldn't have braces in the first place . I have to get my braces remove as soon as possible. A few days later I go to speak with Dr.Colleen about the situation. She tells me you only had 10% of gum disease which is not bad for braces. If someone has gum disease it does not matter the percentage the person should not be clear to get braces. This was very unprofessional and careless of her. I wish she would've been honest with me. Instead of her clearing me for braces she should've reffer me to a gum specialist. It's not fair to me that because of a mistake that she made I have spent alot of money on my braces treatment and also getting them remove. That money came out of my pockets the insurance did not cover any of it. She made me waste money that I didn't have . I had to work extra hours at work and I even try ro get a second job but the job market at the moment is horrible so I was not be to. Thank god I was able to find someone who lend me the money . On top of all the other bills that I have to pay. I am not rich . This situation has been very stressful and upsetting I barely been eating , sleeping lately because I been worrying and stressing out. On april 16 2025 I was going to have one year with my braces on. Now I have to figure out how I am going to pay for the gum disease treatment and also pay back the person who lend me the money . I hope she does not do the same thing she did to me to someone else.
