Forever Smile Dental Care

There is no other office like Forever Smile and there is no other dentist like Dr. Shelyan. I used to come here years ago for a good number of years and was very happy with the team and the services. Then I moved and had to find a new dentist. It was a terrible experience. Either I would find a very aggressive, over diagnosing dentist or the other extreme of "oh everything looks good, we can wait until you have pain" kind of thing. That is when I realized Dr. Shelyan was the perfect balance of being preventive and proactive to save teeth but not aggressive and over treat. Luck for me, after a few years, I am now back in the area again and guess who I went back to for my dentist? Dr. Shelyan!! They were so happy to see me and I felt very comfortable and confident that I am in good hands. Highly recommend this place for everyone forever. Don’t look anywhere else. You won’t find anyone better.

Dr. Shelyan is a good dentist, and a nice one at that, but he has a particular style that doesn't work for me, and that I think would be useful to let others know about. He is very aggressive in his treatment recommendations (not in how he recommends it, but in the choice itself). If anything is even a little bit wrong, he suggests the most intense procedure. I have some grooves in my teeth, from grinding. No pain, no tooth cavity, surface grooves. I take good care of my teeth. Yet he suggested two crowns. When I mentioned this to another dentist, they said, "that's about the most aggressive thing you could do." It also happens to coincide with the most expensive option. I don't know if there is a business intent behind this, but I found myself become more and more untrusting of his suggestions because they didn't feel reasonable and they often had big price tags. Even with my simple knowledge, I'd ask a few questions and things just didn't add up. So it's not bad dentistry, per se, my teeth have been maintained well, the filling I did have him do once turned out well, but the constant recommendations for expensive, aggressive procedures decreased my trust over time.

I've been going to Forever Smile for almost 20 years. Most people dread going to their dentist, but I always look forward to my visits here. Everyone on staff is so incredibly kind and honest and great communicators. Armen is the best dental hygienist around - he's so good at what he does and it's always a pleasure to see him. Dr. Shelyan is also fantastic. I highly recommend Forever Smile! I refer everyone that asks me to go here.

I had a very good experience here! Dr. Shelyan was extremely kind, warm and knowledgeable. He was very thorough in his explanations and took the time to share a lot of information about my teeth, why they recommend certain treatments, etc. I also respected his honesty in everything while leaving all decisions up to me at the end. The hygienist, Armen was also very gentle and did an amazing job! I am so glad to have found a trusted dentist in la!

Forever Smile has been amazing - most recently I had 4 wisdom teeth extracted. I was quite nervous from hearing a variety of stories of traumatic experiences and pain both during and after the procedure. The entire dental team took great care during the procedure and it went so fast and so smoothly with zero pain. Definitely would suggested Forever Smile for any of your dental needs!

I rarely write reviews, but I feel obligated to share my experience so others can make informed decisions. After receiving treatment at this office, I was later contacted and asked to pay additional money beyond what I believed I owed. When I tried to understand the charges, I reviewed my insurance explanations of benefits and billing statements. During that process, my insurer, Delta Dental, required the office to issue refunds due to overbilling concerns. Even after those refunds were issued, the office later attempted to bill a procedure nearly a year after the original visit. This raised serious questions for me about the accuracy and timing of the billing. I also asked to review my dental records so I could better understand what occurred during my visits. In writing, I was told I would need to pay more than $2,500 just to review the records, otherwise I was told there were no records to review. That response was extremely surprising and made it very difficult to resolve the situation directly with the office. Because I could not get clear answers, I ultimately filed a complaint with the Dental Board of California so the matter could be reviewed independently. If you are a patient here, I strongly encourage you to carefully review your billing statements and insurance explanations of benefits. If something does not seem right, you may want to contact the Dental Board of California to report your experience so it can be looked into. Patients deserve transparency, accurate billing, and access to their own records.
